“Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behaviour and information processing. They open you up to the possibility that everything you know is wrong.” ― Terence McKenna <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5iZfvDfhHg4" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Makes you think. If one assumes the U.S benefits from a destabilized Colombia (and other drug producing territories) then, their strict drug laws and almost non-existant domestic production surely helps maintain these destructive wars. I suggest these incentives need to change before there is any chance of decriminalization and treatment/recovery based drug policies in western "1st world" countries. ![](https://i.imgur.com/d8moNSW.png) I was a soldier in the Colombian Army, The FARC guerilla are mobile units. They shift from point to point through the dense jungle. Think of it as a mobile brigade, commander and all. The labs are easy to set up so they dont spend more than a few weeks at a time in each area. What happened here is that the intell was correct and there was a concentration of coca labs. Unfortunatley they arrived right when the FARCS 15th front was ocuppying the area. The commando unit handled the situation in the best way they could, nothing could have been done differentley to get a better outcome. All that fire from all angles and the number of enemy fighters should have been enough to get them all killed. The most brutal and sad part of it all is that millions of dollars are pouring in to fight the drug trade, lives are bieng lost like that of SGT. Cortez for a war that cant be won. As long as the U.S keeps being the number 1 consumer of cocaine in the world, there will always be drugtrade. Americas society of addicts is the fuel and the "help" we are getting from the American army is the match that lights the fire. The only ones who are truly benefiting in the end from all this chaos are the Americans with their extraditions and their seizures of the Narco assets. Millions of dollars are bieng seized and are going straight to the U.S. Colombians dont get a penny, the soldiers dont get a penny, the Colombian population is paying the price and the Narcos end up dead or in chains for a lifetime. Maybe the answer isnt a war on drugs, but maybe changing the inner workings of society so people dont turn to drugs to ignore the deep void within. The USA has no business funding Columbia's war on drugs. This goes back to Regan Era policy. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eE2-zYEldGc" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
